Here at Kennings, we recently supplied materials to a group of veterans and students from Delta Acadamey Goole. They have kindly dedicated their last two weekends to building and painting the fantastic Remembrance Day memorial for our Armed Forces at Goole’s clock tower.
The process took a long time, but it was worth it! We can tell the group put in some fantastic effort. We could not be prouder to be part of this community!
What is Remembrance Sunday?
Remembrance Sunday always falls on the second weekend of November, it takes place on the 14th of November 2021 this year. The nation has the opportunity to remember those who sacrificed their lives to defend our freedom and way of life. We remember those who served in the Armed Forces from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those that have lost their lives due to conflict or terrorism.
Alongside Remembrance Sunday, every year on the 11th of November, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that marked the end of the First World War in 1918, we traditionally hold a one or two-minute silence recognising the precise time that the hostilities ceased in 1918 – the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
