Cedar shingles may be the answer for you. They add a beautiful rustic look to any home and are highly durable, so you don’t have to compromise an aesthetically pleasing look for waterproof protection. There are three grades of cedar shingles: Black label – utility grade for economy applications and secondary buildings. Red label – standard grade available for an affordable price. Finally, Blue label – the highest quality shingles, with no knots and no discolouration.

How do they age?

Cedar shingles have a life expectancy of 30 years and as they age, they fade to an attractive silvery grey shade. The most attractive quality of the shingles for most people is the fact the wood is naturally insect and rot-resistant so it requires little to no maintenance. You can extend the life of your shingles an extra 20 years in the right conditions and investing in quality materials.

Where can you use them?

These shingles are adaptable, you can also use them on the outside of buildings for extra protection. They add a warming element to any home. Having them on walls is usually popular in coastal homes or areas with high humidity due to their long life span and durability. This beautiful exterior decoration can be added to your home, and will last even longer in locations with less moisture!

The shingles are easy to install at home. Ensure you have roofing felt underneath and it is secured with a staple gun. When installing the shingles we recommend our cedar shingle silicone bronze nails for maximum life.  As a guide, approximately 1kg of nails is required to fix 6 bundles of shingles.
