Plaster and Plasterboards

Whether you’re looking for standard square edged plasterboard or a specialist plasterboard for a more specific job, at Kennings we stock a wide range of different plasterboards suitable for most applications. We are confident we can offer exactly what you will need for your project all and all at our famously competitive prices.

As well as regular 9.5mm and 12.5mm plasterboards we also offer fire protection boards, moisture resistant boards for wet rooms, bathrooms and shower rooms, cement particle board, and acoustic plasterboard that can help block out unwanted noise.

What is plasterboard?

Plasterboard, also known as drywall, is a piece of Gyproc, or gypsum, that is sandwiched between thick, heavy-duty construction paper. Plasterboard is most commonly used on walls and ceilings and is then finished off with plaster or paint.

What types of plasterboard are there?

There are a number of different types of plasterboard available, including foam backed plasterboard. The type you want will depend on where it is being installed and why.

Square Edge Plasterboard

Standard square edge plasterboards enable quick installation of walls, partitions and ceilings, benefiting both DIY and professionals alike. Available in two standard thicknesses (9.5mm and 12.5mm) - designed to match most building specifications. These can be easily fixed to timber, metal partitions as well as brick and masonry work using a drywall adhesive.

Moisture Resistant Plasterboard

Moisture resistant plasterboard have been developed to be used in humid and damp environments such as kitchen and bathroom ceilings and walls. These boards are infused with water repellent additives in the core. It is also suitable for use in external soffits that are in sheltered positions. Moisture resistant plasterboard products are green in colour to provide easy and quick recognition.

Acoustic Plasterboard

Acoustic plasterboard not only provides a quick and easy way to finish a room, but it also reduces the level of noise that travels both into the room and out of the room. Designed for use in wall lining and partition systems where greater levels of sound insulation are required.

Fire Resistant Plasterboard

Fire resistant plasterboard incorporates glass fibre additives that increase the fire protection characteristics with pink paper lining for easy recognition. The additional fire protection properties above standard board products enable the plasterboard to be used in partition, ceiling and steel encasement systems where more stringent fire performance is required such as in domestic separating walls, corridors, garages and steel encasement.
